PETA Says Michael Moore is a Fat Sicko

Tagged:

In celebration of Michael Moore’s much anticipated documentary Sicko, the animal rights group PETA told him he was “fat.” PETA sent a letter to Moore slamming his documentary on the U.S.’s poor healthcare system because they feel he is in poor health himself according to MSN.

“There’s an elephant in the room, and it is you,” says Ingrid Newkirk, President of PETA in a letter to Moore that also called him a hypocrite.

Newkirk went on to tell Moore he should become a vegetarian because doing so might make him lose weight. She then referred him to her PETA website GoVeg.com for meat-free recipes and ended the letter with, “As they say at Nike (sorry!): ‘Just do it.”

Oh god. This is the lamest attempt to convert someone to vegetarianism. Quoting a Nike ad? Come on, she would have a better chance at conversion if she banged on strangers doors and told them she found enlightenment in the form of carrots.

And this is an animal rights group, which I assume have nothing to do with our healthcare system. So why is she butting in? I am a firm believer in animal rights, but she was just being rude to Moore and not the least bit helpful to any cause. If Moore was making a documentary on how to be fit, but ate cheeseburgers and donuts himself, then he would be a hypocrite. But it is every human’s right to healthcare provisions despite their psychical appearance. If he was hit by a car, Would the hospital decline him care simply because he was overweight? Does he need to check the Vegetarian box to seek help? And for the record, not all vegetarians are skinny or healthy.

Two dumbest, most hypocritical and asinine people on the face of the earth....can we please request they fight to the death?

Who? Michael Moore vs. PETA Pres? I don't see why not. Pay-per-view can charge $30 per TV.

man that'd be great if paramedics wouldn't help someone because they were fat!

Wow! Dumb and Dumber part III

Both are media wh*res. If they bash each other they can both feel like they are winning some great battle. Sort of like two kids fighting in a sand box.

Both of them could have been the real life model for Forrest Gump.

Another case of PETA doing what they do best. Getting millions of dollars' worth of free publicity for their cause with nothing but a sleight of hand. Love it.

I'd love to see Michael Moore take on PETA next!! But then he wouldn't be exposing the rich and powerful, he'd be exposing the immature and hysterical. That's a very different moral stance... Just as important though, I think.

First of all, it is a proven fact that a vegetarian lifestyle is healthier than a non-veg lifestyle. Second, it is proven to not only stop, but actually *reverse* the effects of heart disease. Third, a vegan diet helps the entire body by eliminating cholesterol, which is entirely unneccessary for the bodies functioning. Fourth, a vegan or vegetarian diet is proven to help lose weight. Fifth, a veg diet is morally justifiable, as vegans and vegetarians and animal rights activists and animal rights extremists all agree that no *animal,* human or otherwise, should die for a *human's* stomch. Sixth, with our evolutionary end technological level, it is completely unneccessary to eat meat at all. Seventh, since we are capable of higher level reasoning, it is our obligation to recognize the emotional capacity of animals, and therefore in killing them we are terrorizing entire species. Eighth, if one is going to release a movie oriented towards healthcare, while completely leaving out a well researched and documented part of it (namely, one's diet), including things like the fact that a vegetarian or vegan diet can reverse heart disease and diabetes, and they have the funding and influence that somebody like Michael moore has gained, then they should be called a fucking hypocrite. Rants are all fine and good, but get the facts straight, especially if one is going to post them all over the internet.

Before one starts bashing either of the two, it might one well to consider the facts. On top of that, so far both PETA and Moore have held firm to their morals and values, which is more than can be said for, oh, I don't know, most of the world? Most of the people that end up bashing them are narcissists, devout of a sound moral foundation, and have given little thought to their own beliefs (which are usually no more than the beliefs of their parents, consumerism mixed with laziness and convenience, or sheer ignorance coupled with mass media brainwashing).

Dear GOD, is anybody capable of independent thought anymore? Start analyzing and researching for yourselves, instead of feeding into popularized media bullshit!

I'd have to say that rant you went on is incrediby naive. I'm not going to critique your position on vegan and vegitarian lifestyles because you can eat whatever you want, I'm not going to pass judgements on people based upon what they eat. However, your statement that " if one is going to release a movie oriented towards healthcare, while completely leaving out a well researched and documented part of it (namely, one's diet), including things like the fact that a vegetarian or vegan diet can reverse heart disease and diabetes...they should be called a fucking hypocrite" has little or no bearing in any conversation about Michael Moore "documentaries". Do you know why? Because, he does not get involved in welll researching the facts of an issue and only splices together snipits of film to fit "his facts". The whole point of his latest "documentary" is to prove that HMO's are corrupt and the health care system is in terrible shape. Why would he want to put blame on Americans themselves by saying that they can actively improve their own health? He wants to blame the insurance agencies. He does this all the time, leaving things out the truth which would point out the innacuracies of his point of view. As a second example, In bowling for Columbine he attacked the NRA for coming to colorado for a "gun rally" soon after the Columbine tragedy. Actually it was their national board meeting which had been scheduled months in advance and according to their bylaws they need to give their membership at least a months notice to change the location and they could not cancel it. however the limited it from a week to 3 days and eliminated all vendors and only concentrated on organizational business. But Michael Moore would never tell you that. Or in Farenheit 9/11 when Michael Moore shows the "Newspaper Article" that states that latest recount shows Gore won the election. Actually that was not an article but an opinion letter to the editor, second it was not that large, Moore blew up the headline and put it at the top of the page rather than in one of the columns like it was and even changed the publishing date. And when that was pointed out to Moore's staff by the newspaper that the letter originally was published in, his staff threatened the newspaper with legal action if they spoke out. I could go on and on about his lies because they are all over the place, but if you want to see them search on google "fifty-nine deceits in farenheit 9/11" Yes he sticks to his morals, in fact so much that he lies to try and force his opinions on the American public.

As far as PETA goes, they really are the most hypocritic and terrible organization we have in the United States today. Handing out comic books that say "your daddy is hooked on murder" because he fishes or that "mommy is a murderer" because she wears a fur, and that you need to hide you dogs and cats from you parents because they may be next. Handing these comic books to school children is irresponsible, trust destroying, and potentially devastating to parent/child relationship. How would you feel if the Christian Right made a graphic comic book saying "your daddy is going to hell because he is gay" with pictures of flames and writhing people in hell etc and handing them out to elementary school age children of gay couples. Also to show how hypocritical PETA is, look at www.petakillsanimals.com where you can hear about how in a 2007 North Carolina animal-cruelty trial, PETA employees admitted killing adoptable dogs and cats, and then tossing their bodies into a trash dumpster. And that public records from the state of Virginia shows that PETA has killed over 14,400 dogs and cats since 1998.

but bacon tastes so good!

Apparently, you aren't capable of independent thought -- or research -- or you wouldn't be mouthing off brain-dead rhetoric straight from the people who fund domestic terrorism (and getting it wrong on top of that). Cholesterol is manufactured by your liver, even vegan livers, and is a precursor of testosterone and estrogen; it is also important in artery repair. You don't get YOUR cholesterol from a dead cow (which also manufactures cholesterol in its liver). There is nothing magic about a vegan diet that makes you slim and healthy; a calorie is a calorie is a calorie, and legumes, grains, and oil have PLENTY of them. Arthritic, obese, sickly-looking vegans abound. I personally don't take morals lessons from organizations that specialize in arson, bombing, the wholesale slaughter of dogs and cats, and the callous disregard for human health and life -- even when the research benefits animals as well. I do pay attention to the WELFARE of animals in our care, including poultry and cattle. There is no one-size-fits-all human diet; we evolved in separate populations all over the planet, and our genetic makeups differ; milk tolerance is one well-known variance among populations. And a vegan diet for a diabetic?? Yes, let's dump a whole bunch of starch into a diabetic's bloodstream and see how fast we can kill them. You are aware that nothing about being a vegan makes you eat whole grains, green vegetables, olive oil, or soy, right? Tater tots are vegan. Fritos are vegan. A pound of white flour mixed with a pound of white sugar, drenched with a bottle of ranch dressing and eaten with a spoon is vegan. You don't give a damn about human health. You don't eat meat, and since it works for you (at least at the moment) it should be mandatory for everyone else. Don't even get me started on preachy vegetarians who decided THEIR craving for KFC was special.

One small errata: make that raspberry vinaigrette on the flour/sugar glop. You may accidentally find a milk solid in ranch dressing.

fritos aren't vegan they use yellow #5! but then again the only vegan cars were made by the Prof on Gilligan's Island.. but vegans drive em!

Was that independent thought? Forgive me, but I HEAR THAT ALL THE TIME and I would hardly call THAT independent.

I think it is stupid for the head of PETA to talk about Michael Moore's weight. It really has no bearing on the documentary itself. Why? Because Michael Moore is AMERICAN. He is a prime example of WHY the healthcare system should be reformed!

I become a vegetarian about 15 years ago and I really find it hard to make time to be a vegetarian. You can't just go out and get a quick bite to eat between work, meetings, etc. It is a thoughtful process that many find hard because of the way American's live. I don't have kids, but if I did - I am not sure I could sucessfully be vegetarian. Just too busy! We are the most productive people in the world. Most American's will not take even time to take a vacation. THAT is the reason why we are unhealthy, and THAT is the reason why Michael Moore is heavy.

The most sucessful American businesses manufacturs food as cheap as possible, regardless of the health consequences. I can guarantee that if we had universal healthcare, there would be an end put to that, becasue at that moment, everyone will be paying for the consequences of these irresponsible food manufacturers.

It is silly for PETA to poke fun at his weight. While I agree with some of what they stand for - this kind of dialogue just makes logical people not want to listen to PETA at all. It is a disservice to their cause.

HAhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Ok, you had me going there for a minute. I mean really, I was thinking you really believe all that claptrap. But then, no one who actually investigates the facts could ever believe it.
But you really had me for a minute!

"Dear GOD, is anybody . . .". Why would I take the advice of someone who clearly believes that there is an invisible man in the sky that rules the universe? And speaking of gawd and religion, PETA is no different than the ranting fundies at Westboro Baptist Church . . . except that ol' Fred Phelps and Company don't have a whoreish, bleach-blond, tit-monster as their spokesperson . . . which is like, totally cool OMG!!!

But why does me not taking care of my health mean I have to pay $10 for a muffin in the hospital I didn't eat, or hundreds of dollars just for a little pill I need to keep me alive? Because of animals that's why! Its their fault...or Jewish people I'm not really sure anymore.

I know your are being sarcastic - I just don't get it. Are jewish people blamed for lots of things? If they are, why perpetuate that idea unless you want to edicate people that don't know this on that notion?

don't pay hospital bills. it won't effect your credit.

That's a lie. I work in the healthcare industry and many people get sent to collections. My brother in law had to declare bankuptsy due to his healthcare bills (he has asthma and his job did not provide health covg). I hope no one listens to you.

that's why you don't give them your real name!

that's why u be giving a fake social security number. Fuck that shit. Hospitals are corny. They charge too much for nothing. They don't help nobody, they just there to make money off sick people.

thats why u steals there pharmisutical shit when they aint lookin dawg. $30 for a stephiscope!

stethoscope you retard!

I just moved and didn't tell them where. Although I'm sure they'll find me.

as long as it's a dif state you're fine!

it is! did I beat the system?

Holy shit, this is ridiculous. Not sure about this site, but is this for real? How does PETA get off telling anyone they are a hypocrite? This from the animal rights organization that kills animals?

You know what, if only Mr. Moore would become a vegetarian he could look like as good as Alicia Silverstone! Anyone seen that new Alicia Silverstone naked and wet PETA ad... talk about using sex to sell your idea.

Thanks for adding to the media's unrealistic version of beauty PETA!

And why did you have to go and tarnish the name of my favorite flat bread?

As a vegetarian, I couldn't take PETA giving me a bad name, so I wrote the following:
