Joaquin Phoenix Retired or Crazy?

I don't know if this video of Joaquin Phoenix announcing his retirement from movies to work on music, is a publicity stunt or not, but I do know he is fucking scary. I'm glad I wasn't the guy interviewing him, and what was the reporter thinking when he touched him? Phoenix looked like he was ready to rip his arm out of the socket. Watch the very uncomfortable video above.

Phoenix dropped this bomb at a recent production of Ernest Hemingway’s The World of Nick Adams: "I want to take this opportunity ... also to give you the exclusive and just talk a little bit about the fact that this will be my last performance as an actor."

When asked "why," he said, "I’m not doing films anymore. ... I’m working on my music. I’m done. I’ve been through that."

When the reporter nervously laughs and pats him on the shoulder, both Joaquin and Casey Affleck give him the look of the death. At which point I would have either punched him in the face and ran screaming like a little girl, or peed my pants and fell over crying... Just watching the video makes me uncomfortable, even that fat blonde looks uncomfortable afterwards. It must have been a fun night.

If he is not going crazy or lying then his last film will be Two Lovers with Gwyneth Paltrow scheduled for release Feb. 13.

Elizabeth Snead points out that Phoenix's surprising "I quit" announcement isn't that surprising at all. He has had a strange relationship with the media and film promotion in the past. Well according to her he has...I'm not saying anything.
