Wolverine First Summer Hit of 2009

X-men Origins: WolverineHugh Jackman set the Summer movie box office bar high with his $87 million hit X-men Origins: Wolverine (read review). His first challenger of the summer is J.J. Abrams' retooling of Star Trek (watch trailer), followed by Angels & Demons (5/5/09) and then the first box office showdown on May 22 between -- the family friendly Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian and not so-family-friendly Terminator Salvation.

Christian Bale's Terminator has a slight advantage over Ben Stiller's Museum because it opens on Thursday May 21st.
