Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains Naked Sugar Voted Out First
What an amazing first episode, possibly one of the best premieres the series has had! As a Survivor nut, I am incredibly pleased with the cast overall. Yeah there are one or two weak links, but then I thought the same about Parvati once and she turned out to be one of my favorite winners, so what do I know?
Best moment of the night: a half-naked Sugar flipping off the Villains tribe. Classic.
Weirdest possible showmance? Jerri and Coach. I mean really, JERRI and COACH?
Favorite duo: Boston Rob and Sandra. I love the idea of these two working together. They could run the Villains game.
Stephenie proved once again that she is a pretty badass competitor when she dislocated her shoulder, popped it back in, and then got right back into the game.
Rupert and Russell did pretty much what I thought they would do: repeat past strategies. For starters, I liked Russell very much towards the end of Survivor: Samoa, and at the end, some of his bragging was warranted. But this time? Come on, Russ, the game just started. Tone down the boasting and show me some action. I feel like he's trying to hypnotize me into believing he's the best ever simply by telling me it over and over again. And when it comes to Rupert, well...I've always been pretty open about my feelings towards him (not a fan) and tonight just reinforced that for me. If Rupert can't control the hunter-gatherer aspect of the game and hoard the fishing equipment, then he's lost. He's totally inflexible. Now that he's broken his toe in the very first challenge, he's going to be forced to rely more on social skill and strategy than physical prowess. A feat at which I predict he will fail.
The final ten minutes were a nail biter for me as I watched the possibility of either Stephenie or Cirie going home. Two of my all-time favorite contestants going head to head? It was like Sophie's Choice! For the record, I would have chose Cirie to stay. Sorry Steph.
But my fears were for naught, because it turned out that even flashing her boobs couldn't save Sugar from elimination. I liked Sugar, but if it had to be anyone, I'm glad it was her. I wasn't really digging her whole cozying-up-to-a-strong-guy strategy. This is an All-Star season, a REAL All-Star season. We need better strategies than that.
Final thought: Check out my Survivor casting video over at CBS and leave a comment. Maybe one day I'll get a chance to put all this armchair quarterback strategy to use.
