The Dark Knight
Dark Night Oscar Watch part 55
Warner Bros really wants that Oscar for The Dark Knight and they are not going to stop until they get it. I also know a few of the execs over there are secretly high-fiving each other over Heath Ledger's death, because it really helps their case.
The WB plans to re-release The Dark Knight in January, the height of Academy voting season, as a "reminder for people." You think the fact that it is the second-highest-grossing movie ever would be enough, but studios like their little statues. And why not it is the one time a year where people in the industry, get to celebrate their few success stories, and forget about their many more misses. It is kind of like Baseball, every home run negates the 8 prior strikeouts. They want you to remember The Dark Knight, but forget every One Missed Call and Speed Racer.

Our Dark Night Oscar Watch columns may sound like we are a bit bitter about the movie winning an Oscar, but that couldn't be the furthest thing from the truth. I would be one of the first to applaud the Academy for finally acknowledging genre films, instead of tired crap such as Crash. I really hope Batman is the superhero to pull it off, but its just too tempting not to play devil's advocate with it, while pissing people off over Ledger. Yes, I'm a bitter, mean spirited drunk, what can I say? read more »
Oh Please Let This Be True! Cher to Play Catwoman in Batman 3
Lets get this out of the way; this "news" comes via the UK's Telegraph, but the gay man in me can dream can't he?
A studio executive reportedly said, "Cher is Nolan's (director) first choice to play Catwoman. He wants to her to portray her like a vamp in her twilight years. The new Catwoman will be the absolute opposite of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry's purring creations."
Oh and what a vamp she will be! I can hear the Oscar buzz already, actually I'm awarding it to Cher now... In my dreams where, Batman 3 stars Gary Coleman as Robin and Cher as Catwoman. The only next best possible scenario would be Sharon Stone, she would make the best Catwoman ever. I know she starred in the Halle Berry film, but Stone should have been Catwoman, not that hack Berry.
I know you all think I am being sarcastic but I am 100% serious. Nolan is pure genius, nothing but genius if this turns out to be true. If not the Telegraph is genius for making this shit up!

Let the Batman 3 Rumors Begin: Johnny Depp - Philip Seymour Hoffman - Angelina Jolie
Remember the original Batman franchise -- part 1 & 2 directed by Tim Burton? Do you remember how quickly they went to crap, once they started adding too many characters and flavor of the month celebrities? Chris O'Donnell, Alicia Silverstone, three villains, two sidekicks, all in one film! Well hopefully the new Batman franchise doesn't let history repeat itself and dodges the dreaded Trilogy slump. Maybe they should quit while they are still ahead.
First Rumor - A source told the Telegraph: "Producers are convinced that the role of The Riddler is perfect for [Johnny] Depp. Johnny’s a pro. He’ll be able to take direction and still make the character his own."
While some fan boys may cringe at the mention of Johnny Depp, he has never let me down. Picturing him as The Riddler may be kind of hard, however Philip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin makes my stomach turn.
Second Rumor - Telegraph: "What better Penguin is there than Philip Seymour Hoffman?" read more »
Batman Arrested: Christian Bale Alleged Assault
Just when Bat-Mania may have been dying a little, actor Christian Bale found a way to keep it going, by being arrested!
The Sun reports that "Bale has been arrested by detectives investigating a claim of assault." The claims were made by his own mother and sister!

The arrest came after he attended the first European screening of The Dark Knight. "He is alleged to have lashed out on Sunday night at Park Lane’s Dorchester Hotel — where he has a suite."
London is weird, they did this with Amy Winehouse when some gossip-rag turned in footage of her allegedly smoking crack. It seems like they just have you schedule a date to come in and talk over tea and biscuits. Seriously you ever see Cops in London? People would be spitting, hitting and cursing at the police and they would just stand there and say how rude it was. I am sure Bale will just give them some promotional Batman crap and all will be well again. read more »
The Lucky 13 Villains We Would Like to See in Batman 3
Christopher Nolan has said he wants to use more of the more unknown Batman villians "because there are so many of them to choose from". Well, "many" is an extreme exaggeration.. "a few" is a bit more accurate. Mostly due to the majority of Batman villians being third rate charactors who are only interesting when they team-up with each other. The ones who can hold their own though are usually the ones that are a bit out there and would be next to impossible to present in any realistic fashion. Thankfully, Nolan's also said he will never use the Penguin in his movies (or Robin for that matter). So there's at least that. I just hope they don't go with the likes of Egghead, King Tut, Ma Parker, Calendar Man, Hush or that stupid Anarchy guy from the 90s. I'm pretty sure they're smarter than that, but who knows! At any rate we're just gonna cover the best and most probable villains that would fit into or could be made to fit into Nolan's realistic Gotham City. read more »
The Dark Knight: There Will Be Anarchy
The Dark Knight: There Will Be Anarchy
“There are no more barriers to cross. All I have in common with the uncontrollable and the insane, the vicious and the evil, all the mayhem I have caused and my utter indifference toward it I have now surpassed.”
-- Patrick Bateman from American Psycho
“The first time I stole so that I wouldn't starve, yes. I lost many assumptions about the simple nature of right and wrong. And when I traveled, I learned the fear before a crime and the thrill of success. But I never became one of them.”
-- Bruce Wayne from Batman Begins
“You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”
-- Harvey Dent from The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight is an apocalyptic reaffirmation of the enthralling power of pure cinema. Christopher Nolan continues to thrill as he delves further into the Batman mythology. He has made Batman his own and the cinematic traces of what has come before have vanished completely. The Dark Knight does not dazzle us; it seduces us with every frame of its being. read more »

Part 5 our Dark Knight movie review will be Friday or Saturday then stay tuned Monday for our: Top Ten Villains We Would Like to See in Batman 3
Now we give you...
Rumer Willis Should Have Played the Joker NOT Heath Ledger
She is only 19-years-old and her boobs are already sagging, but that shouldn't have stopped Dark Knight producers from casting Rumer Willis as the Joker NOT, Heath Ledger. Like Mickey Rourke was born to play Marv in Sin City and Captain Jean-Luc Picard was born to play Professor Charles Xavier, Willis was born with a face like the joker. It should have been a no brainer, and she is still alive so she could have shown up to collect her Oscar in person. Can Ledger claim that?
Nope!
What are the chances if you were the daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, you would come out looking like your father. Maybe God was pissed off because they canceled Moonlighting that year. Actually it was the next year but God can see the future.
If they need anyone to do flashback scenes in the third Batman film I am sure Willis will be willing, but they better hurry up and sign her now, because she is a rising star.
Don't forget to check out The Women of Batman Naked!
