George Steinbrenner Steals LeBron James' Spotlight: Dies at 80

Win just one for the Gipper!

Okay I have no idea what that means, but I do know it has something to do with sports!

George Steinbrenner upstaged LeBron James today by dying. The Yankees owner passed away of a heart attack. He was 80-years-old.

"The Boss" bought a declining N.Y. Yankees in 1973. During his tenure the team won 11 American League pennants and 7 World Series titles. I wonder if his death will make the rest of the 2010 MLB season more personal for the Yankees, and help them win another World Series?

"It is with profound sadness that the family of George M. Steinbrenner III announces his passing," his family said in a statement. "He was an incredible and charitable man ... he was a visionary and a giant in the world of sports. He took a great-but-struggling franchise and turned it into a champion again."

1 Golden Girl Left: Rue McClanahan is Dead

There is a Golden Girl reunion going on in Heaven and Rue McClanahan just joined it. We have lost one Golden Girl each year for the last three years (Beatrice Arthur, died from cancer in 2009, Estelle Getty died in 2008), that means Betty White should die in 2011! So prepare yourselves.

McClanahan was 76-years-old. She passed away at 1 a.m. this morning," her manager, Barbara Lawrence, told People. "She had a massive stroke."

Rue is known for her role as the sexiest man-eater of the 80s, Blanche Devereaux on the hit TV show The Golden Girls. The show ran on NBC from 1985 to 1992. Dan Fielding is sad to see a fellow nymphomaniac go.

Blake Carrington is Dead

John Forsythe, who played "Blake Carrington" on my Mother's favorite primetime TV show, Dynasty, died yesterday. He was 92-year-old.

The actor's publicist announced that Forsythe died late Thursday from complications of pneumonia, after battling cancer for over a year.

Forsythe was also known for his distinguished work in theater and films and having a voice that made women wet their panties.

BTW Robert Pattinson did not come out of the closet like we reported yesterday! That was an April Fool's Day joke, this is not!

Another 80s Icon Dead: Corey Haim at 38!

First Boner from Growing Pains kills himself, and now 80s teen heartthrob, Corey Haim, has been confirmed dead by the LAPD of an apparent overdose. The actor was found unresponsive at an Oakwood apartment and rushed to Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 3:30am.

This would have never happened if he went on Dr. Drew's Celebrity Rehab.

Haim admitted his drug problem almost 20 years ago to TV talk show host Arsenio Hall, and
it was also well documented on his TV show, The Two Coreys, with fellow co-star Corey Feldman.

Haim got his first acting break on Edison Twins at the age of 12. Other roles include Lost Boys, Lucas, Dream a Little Dream and License to Drive.

He was 38-years-old.

The Day Boner Died

I just knew the Andrew Koenig disappearing act was going to end badly... and it did. The Growing Pains star and Mike Seaver's best friend, went missing on February 14th. Yesterday his body was found in a Vancouver park.

Boner's father, Walter Koenig appeared at a press conference Thursday evening to confirm the death of his son. "My son took his own life," Walter said.

TMZ had learned that Koenig suffered from depression and was "not doing good" in the days leading up to his disappearance. Celebrities Kevin Smith and Sarah Silverman (read their tweets here) asked for people's help finding Koenig on Twitter, and his sister, Danielle, appeared Tuesday night on CNN's Larry King Live.

Andrew was 41.

Brittany Murphy's COD Revealed

The L.A. County Coroner has released Brittany Murphy's cause of death; community acquired pneumonia, iron deficiency anemia, and multiple drug intoxication.

TMZ says Murphy's death was ruled "accidental" and could have been avoided if she went to a hospital in time. Instead she self-medicated with over-the-counter meds, something poor people like me do on a daily basis because of lack of medical insurance.

Come on Obama I don't want to die from drinking too much Dayquil! That is a shitty way to go.
