Reasons Why Britney Spears Tanked at MTV Music Awards
There have been a number of sources that are Pro- or Anti-Britney Spears’ MTV appearance and here are some of the reasons being speculated as to why she performed horribly:
1. The illusions Criss Angel planned for her performance were scrapped at the last minute due to insurance reasons
“The skit was changed at the last minute due to insurance concerns. Britney was set to do an illusion-type set with help from her boyfriend of the week Criss Angel, but the Palms Hotel where the event was held said it was too much of a liability for them at the last moment. 2. She heard Sarah Silverman’s monologue ahead of time
“Britney found out that Silverman was about to call her boys the “cutest mistakes” and was very upset about it. Silverman agreed to cut it from her monologue, but of course didn’t do so in the end. She also said that the kids were cuter than the hairless vagina they came out of. Britney was so upset she walked through her performance just to get it over with (despite encouragement from her friends, including Sam who was apparently yelling at Sarah backstage) to skip out on it all together). - Paparazzi agency X17
3.Criss Angel dumped her right before her performance
“On Saturday, Britney was out with Criss Angel in LA in the morning and was seen wearing his big ‘ol cross necklace. He was said to be out with another woman that same night, though, and he was not seen with Britney the night of the VMAs, where he attended Christina Aguilera’s party alone, wearing that same necklace Britney was sporting the day before.” - Celebitchy
4. She was too tired/not into it
“Britney partied until 4 a.m. on Sunday morning with her assistant, Alli Sims, meeting up with Diddy at Treasure Island. I wouldn’t got out that late the night before a job interview, why would Britney sabotage herself like that before such an important performance? I think it was a combination of Sarah’s joke and Britney just not being really into her appearance there at all. You can see her rehearsals online. She obviously had a dance routine practiced, but simply walked through it unenthusiastically. That is very disappointing for her fans.

I feel sorry for Britney. I've always been neither here nor there when came to Britney...liked some things, didn't like other...but even I am starting to tire of all the Britney bashing. None of us "public" know her personally....so, we should keep our mouths shut. -Lethbridge, AB Canada
Britney does not deserve some of the bashing she has gotten! We all make mistakes and thankfully I am not in the spot light...I would hate to see everything that I did wrong played over and over again. I think many of her mistakes are due to the fact that the media is not forgiving of mistakes...and they have been putting loads of salt into fresh wounds! Let her move on and let her start over...if you can! The Comments made at the Much Music Awards by Sarah were uncalled for and made my heart ache for Britney! Even though I was never a huge fan. Sarah should never had made those comments...especially the ones about her children. Britney just needs to find some good role models and more positive role modles...I think she could come back...What doesn't break you makes you stronger...Britney Hang in there.

Unforgiving media, Poor Britney. She should get out of the spotlight, go back to Louisiana with her 2 kids, and introspect. Better yet, get therapy. Kevin may not allow their kids to be away from him so Britney's lawyer should file a motion for it. I know that in the end, Britney will win the child custody case against Kevin. She needs to speak up in front of the Judge about what Kevin has really done to her during their entire relationship, though. Maybe, majority of the reason why Britney has no self-respect, self-esteem, and self confidence is due to Kevin's lack of emotional support and might have been demoralized by him verbally, mentally, and emotionally. Then, when Britney went wild after the separation, he decided to behave to look "good" to the public and gain sympathy. What a manipulator!
Britney, give up your pride and reconcile with your immediate family (parents, siblings, relatives) and forgive each other, take care of your kids, hire the best fashion designer, use your star power by networking with celebrity friends to seek advice and recommendations but minimize alcohol and club hopping, accept your best friend back into your life-Justin- when both of you are ready because he will always be there for you, practice what you're good at - dancing and singing, and don't ever take Kevin back. He's not good for you. Know yourself, love yourself, and set positive goals in your life before going into another serious relationship. You make your own destiny so do it wisely and with decency. Lastly, Love God, pray to God to give you and your family guidance and strength everyday. He's your only powerful defense against this evil world we're all in.
Leave her alone. Kevin is intent on getting her money and has arraged for lots of speculation about britney which the courts have to take serously when there are kids involved until they are disproven, it happens everyday in ordinary peoples divorces. He wll be shown to be the assshole and brtney will show everyone tat she is clean, all tests are negative in past four months, so far so good.
